The Red Lion
Antic operate a small group of pubs across London. An integral part of their business strategy is to convert a number of their pubs into boutique hotels that leverage high levels of technology.
One of these pubs that have been successfully upgraded to include a hotel is The Red Lion in Leytonstone, a grand 19th-century establishment. The local community sees Red Lion as not just a business, but a place to meet, eat and be merry.
Once a legendary music venue, the East London pub offers fantastic live events space with its large ballroom hosting an array of theatre, comedy and music events throughout the year.
As recently as last year, the pub introduced ten boutique-style bedrooms, so their guests can now stay a little longer. Boasting a unique style and character reminiscent of the much-loved Antic pub interiors, each bedroom at The Red Lion places an emphasis on vintage glamour with beautiful wallpapers, vintage furniture and luxurious fabrics that create a relaxing and intimate atmosphere.
Initially, Hoist Group was contacted by Antic as they were preparing their pilot accommodation, The Red Lion. They recognised that the implementation of locks and mobile key technology would be a striking factor for their guests that would far exceed expectations, seeking a seamless check-in check-out experience for every guest.
With a strategy to introduce accommodation to a large number of their properties, Antic’s sought a partner who had a wealth of hotel industry experience, an ability to provide most of the technology needed and all related support.
The Mobile Key and Locks enquiry led to the Antic team visiting Hoist Group’s London office and discovering the wide range of hospitality technology offered. After this first meeting, it was apparent that Hoist Group could provide Antic so much more than just the mobile key and locks.
Antic had in mind a keyless door solution, to make check-in as seamless as possible. Hoist Group were able to upgrade that idea to a mobile-entry solution where guests only use their smartphones.
With Antic’s aim of enhancing their guests’ experience, they decided on a host of cutting-edge technology from Hoist Group.
Hoist Group’s Smart Locks come with PMS integration, personal access for staff, panic release, emergency key, in-house support, RFID-capability and keycard options. Mobile Key Solution allows guests to open their hotel room with their smartphone, without having to visit the reception desk. Contactless check-in has become a more desired solution for hoteliers in a post COVID world.
|Bob Durie, Managing Director of Hoist Group – UK & Benelux, commented: “We have been delighted with our recent collaboration with the Antic Group and in particular their beautiful locations at the Red Lion and Westow House in London. What started as a conversation regarding our locks solution quickly expanded to a more expansive use of Hoist’s technology including PMS, Access Control, Mobile Key, WiFi and TV. Our products and 24/7/365 support enable groups such as Antic to extend a hotel-grade service offering for their onsite accommodation backed by an industry-leading company as their partner.”||
There is fibre Wi-Fi waiting for every guest that enters their premises and all bedrooms come equipped with smart LED TV’S. With Hoist Group’s Fusion Internet and Fusion TV solutions, The Red Lion is able to offer their guests a far more powerful and reliable WiFi network with the ability to find all relevant information right on the TV in the room.
Online reservations are handled by Hoist Group’s property management system HotSoft PMS, which allows The Red Lion to personalize the guest experience even further. HotSoft PMS streamlines daily operations by automating routine tasks allowing staff to focus on the guest. HotSoft is fully configurable, PCI compliant and features Rate Manager for dynamic pricing. The cloud-hosted solution is flexible and scalable to support any sized hotel or chain.
Hoist Group is proud to have Antic in its customer portfolio. The relationship between hospitality solution provider and Antic has strengthened since the pilot installation at The Red Lion and then another property of theirs, Westow House located in Crystal Palace, London. This subsequently opened the door for Hoist Group to roll out their solutions to other Antic properties too.
Choosing one provider for all solutions which drives synergies led to lower operational costs. Most importantly, this approach allows them to market across the property to their guests, in a way they were not able to do before.
Max Alderman, the owner of Antic Pubs, summarized: “Hoist Group has made the pub and our bedrooms look great! We are enjoying the benefits of an integrated solution from a single provider. Another real benefit has been the increasing growth of direct bookings and repeat business (up to 50% at times), and less dependency on the OTA’s. With our strategy to convert a number of our pubs into boutique hotels – we look forward to having Hoist Group by our side!”
