Hoist Technology will open a new IT division specialising in cloud services from 1 September. The division will offer hosting services for Hoist Technology's own software, website production and keyword optimisation, and the implementation of online booking, reservation systems and back office systems. The Hoist Cloud Service division will be based at Hoist's head office in Stockholm, Sweden, but will service the entire group's customers across all countries.

"Hoist Cloud Service will mean a host of advantages for our customers. Apart from new possibilities provided by the new services, our complete range of IT services will offer a cost-effective alternative where customers can have everything managed by just one supplier. Together with our software and financing solutions, this means Hoist will provide the very best offer on today's market. As always, the aim behind our offer is to increase our customers' profitability," explains Malcolm Lindblom, CEO Hoist AB.

Hoist's IT division will also be restructured in conjunction with the opening of Hoist Cloud Service. The name "NL Partner" will be phased out in Scandinavia, with Hoist IT to be used instead. Hoist IT builds reliable IT environments, installs hardware and manages service and support, including complete operational responsibility. This re-structuring will not cause any changes to existing customer contracts, work methods or offers. Together, Hoist IT and Hoist Cloud Service will offer a broad range of IT services.

Lasse Rytilahti will be the manager of Hoist Cloud Service. Rytilahti has been recruited internally and has worked at Hoist as both Head of IT and an IT technician for nine years.

"It's really exciting to be working with Hoist Cloud Service. Hoist will have the broadest and most specialised IT services offering for the hotel industry and our large volumes will offer cost advantage that we will pass on to customers in the form of excellent prices and quality," says Rytilahti, Cloud Service Manager.

Hoist AB - which delivers systems, products and services for hotels and commercial properties - is bringing in the Accent Equity 2008 investment fund as a part-owner in order to speed up the pace of the company's expansion. Hoist was founded in 1994 by Malcolm Lindblom and Christopher Upmark and is now established in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, the Baltic States, the UK, Poland and Russia. The company has 300 employees and had a turnover of more than SEK 600 million last year.

Hoist AB is active in two main business areas that deliver systems, products and services to the hotel industry (HHS) and for energy savings (EM). HHS provides business and reservations systems to the hotel industry, as well as interactive communications systems, TV entertainment, wireless Internet access and back-office systems. EM provides ventilation and control systems to the commercial property industry with the goal of reducing energy consumption, improving the indoor climate and contributing to a better environment.

The founders, Malcolm Lindblom and Christopher Upmark, will continue to run the company and retain a 50% ownership stake. Accept Equity 2008 is acquiring the remaining 50%.

"We have witnessed fantastic growth in Hoist over the past seventeen years," says Malcolm Lindblom, CEO. "We are proud of how the company has developed since its inception. A great deal still remains to be done in both of the company's business areas, and we welcome Accent Equity as a partner. Accent has many years of experience in company-building and internationalization, which fits in very well with Hoist's future strategy."

"Malcolm Lindblom and Christopher Upmark have very skilfully created, in just under twenty years' time, a stable platform for Hoist both at home in the Nordic region and on a number of European markets," says Niklas Sloutski, CEO at Accent Equity Partners AB, an advisor to Accent Equity 2008. "We are both happy and proud that the founders of this excellent company have chosen Accent Equity 2008 as a partner and look forward to assisting the Hoist team in their continued expansion. The goal for the next five-year period is to speed up the pace of growth both organically and via acquisition in order to secure Hoist's position as the number one supplier to the hotel and commercial property industry.

Hoist Technology AB will carry out the installation of the fully-automated minibar SmartCube by Minibar Systems in all of the 418 rooms in the new Radisson Blu Waterfront Hotel, Stockholm, opening in early 2011. Hoist Technology and Minibar Systems began a cooperative partnership in April 2009 and today the cooperation covers all Nordic countries and the Baltic States.

“It’s always a pleasure to participate as a provider for new exciting hotel projects and to install modern products that streamlines the hotel operation,” says Annika Rydström, General Manager of Comfort Design, Hoist Technology AB.

The fully-automated SmartCube minibar by Minibar Systems is equipped with infrared sensors which registers what needs to be refilled in the minibar. The SmartCube software communicates with each minibar and automatically sends information about sales from the minibar directly to the guest’s bill in the hotel’s PMS. With this, the hotel gets strongly reduced minibar wastage and can also achieve labour savings for refilling the minibars by up to 60%. The SmartCube minibar is available in several different sizes and designs. In addition to the SmartCube the hotel rooms can also be equipped with a SmartTray – a sensor fitted fully-automated tray for the selling of snacks and other products.

The Radisson Blu Waterfront Hotel, Stockholm is operated by The Rezidor Hotel Group. The hotel is located in the heart of Stockholm between the World Trade Center and the City Hall, right next to the Central Station. It has a special architecture with a shimmering roof and will offer 414 rooms, 4 suites and state-of-the-art meeting facilities for up to 3000 delegates. The hotel will also offer an all day dining restaurant, a bar and a fitness centre. In the beginning of July 2010 a new exclusive two-year agreement for automated and non-automated minibars were signed between Choice Hotels Scandinavia AS and Hoist Technology. The agreement which now were renewed was previously signed between Choice Hotels Scandinavia and Minibar Systems and was taken over by Hoist Technology in connection with the acquisition of the Nordic arm of Minibar Systems in May 2009.

"Since we just broadened our range with both automated and non-automated minibars through the acquisition of the Nordic arm of Minibar Systems, it feels very good to have continuous confidence by Choice Hotels Scandinavia", says Annika Rydström, General Manager of Comfort Design, Hoist Technology.

Hoist Technology also delivers TV channels, hotel interior and IT services to Choice Hotels Scandinavia.

"We use Hoist Technology as our supplier for several different areas and now, when they have taken over the sales of Minibar Systems' products in the Nordic countries, it's natural that we renew the agreement with them to get the same products as before", says Anders Lidman, Purchasing Manager, Choice Hotels Scandinavia.

The cooperation between Minibar Systems and Hoist Technology began one year ago when Hoist Technology acquired the Nordic arm of Minibar Systems and took over sales, service and support as well as the existing customer contracts for non-automated minibars and safes on the Nordic market and in Estonia. In April 2010 Hoist Technology got the exclusive rights to sell Minibar Systems' automated minibars in all Nordic countries and in the Baltic States.

From 1 April 2009 Comfort Design, a division within Hoist Technology, takes over the Nordic arm of Minibar Systems. With its large product range and its environmental awareness, Minibar Systems is a natural co-operation partner at a time when Comfort Design is opting to renew its portfolio of products within the segment of minibars and safes.

"Hoist Technology has long experience of selling minibars and for this reason it is immensely positive for us to be able to further broaden our offer with products from a highly reputable and environmentally aware manufacturer", says Annika Persson, general manager of Comfort Design.

"We are happy about the co-peration with Hoist Technology in the Nordic region. The Comfort Design Division has a wide and exciting range into which our minibars and safes fit very well", says Tor Helge Lunde Sørensen, Regional Sales Director of Minibar Systems.

Minibar Systems has been a leading manufacturer within the minibar segment for over 35 years, and makes an active contribution to developing and producing environmentally friendly and energy-saving minibars. The co-operation between the two partners means that, as from 1 April 2009, Comfort Design takes over all sales, servicing and support of minibars in the Nordic market and Estonia. Comfort Design also takes over the existing customer contracts for non-automatic minibars.

Comfort Design is present throughout Scandinavia with a sales organisation, support and warehouses in each country, and works in close co-operation with Electrolux for the handling of all technical services.
