It began with minibars

Malcolm Lindblom (Group President) and Christopher Upmark (MD Sweden) bought Hoist in 1994 and began renting out minibars to hotels in Sweden.

Today our products are mostly IT-based systems that help our customers to become even more profitable and make their guests more comfortable and provide them with a better service. We invest heavily in developing our products and services and in reaching out to the international market.

1994  Hoist is founded by Malcolm Lindblom and Christopher Upmark.

1996  Interactive TV systems are launched.

1997  Film and TV channel distribution starts.

1998  The HotSoft reservations and business system is launched as a separate brand. Sales exceed SEK 50 million and the number of employees reaches 26.

1999  Hoist establishes subsidiaries in Denmark and Norway.

2000  Hoist establishes a subsidiary in the U.K.

2001  Hoist's sales exceed SEK 100 million and the number of employees reaches 53.

2002  Laptop Access is launched as a separate brand.

2004  Eyecom is launched as a separate brand.

2005  Hoist establishes a subsidiary in Russia. A three-year growth plan, Vision 2008, is launched internally.

2006  Hoist acquires NL Partner AB. Serviator is launched as a separate brand. Revenues exceed SEK 200 million and the number of employees reaches 121.

2007  Hoist acquires EM Systems AS and launches EM Systems as a separate brand. Hoist and Philips begin cooperation on the development of IPTV for the hotel market. Sales exceed SEK 300 million and the number of employees reaches 180.

2008 The Vision 2008 growth plan achieves its target of doubling revenues since 2005. A new three-year growth plan, Vision Go11, is launched internally for 2009-2011.

2009 Hoist establishes a subsidiary in Finland with branch offices in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Hoist acquires Jovent AB as well as the Nordic arm of Minibar Systems. The Polish company Nordic Team becomes Hoist’s first franchisee.
